I met my wife at a Star Trek convention. She was study abroad from France and spoke little English, and I didn’t know a lick of French. So, for the first few months of our relationship, we communicated by speaking Klingon.
Well, I signed up for three online classes for the fall….depending on how these next few months go will determine the fate of which classes or class I stay enrolled in…….
Isn’t it so frustrating and depressing having a friend that shoots down, criticizes, and mocks all your dreams, ideas, opinions, and feelings? Just because they aren’t your dreams, ideas, opinions, or feelings and/or you don’t agree with them, doesn’t mean you have to be an ass about it all the time. It’s okay to have friends that are different from you, that’s what makes things interesting and keeps you growing. Encourage your friends if they like something, even if you don’t agree or think the thing is stupid. The only times you should be putting a stop to a friends dreams, ideas, opinions, or feelings is if its bad or life threatening like doing drugs or murder or what-have-you. Don’t be an ass to your friends, love them and help them through life. Living is already difficult as it is, they don’t need that person who is supposed to be a ‘safe haven’ harming their entire being and judging their personality or character.
Moral of the story: Be nice to your friends.
